The Easton Power Brigade series is back with the S3 YB16X311 XL3 (-11). The XL3’s end-loaded weight distribution, combined with Easton’s reliable HMX alloy barrel, gives the bat a heavier feel, but provides players with extra pop and an extended barrel.
The XL3 (-11) is a one-piece, full alloy bat with an end-loaded feel. The alloy barrel is composed of Easton’s HMX Hyperlite Matrix Alloy, which expands and lengthens the bat’s sweet spot to drive the ball, thus providing more power and more durability. The HMX barrel is hot right out of the wrapper, so players will be able to start hitting ropes all over the field right away. The one-piece design gives players a traditional, stiff bat, which yields a quicker swing through the zone, generating more pop.
The ultra-thin handle of the YB16X311 XL3 is wrapped in Easton’s comfortable 1.2mm HYPERSKIN Grip. The YB16X311 XL3 also has an extended barrel, giving players the extra length they need to drive the ball with power. The bat will feel a little bit heavier than a balanced bat, but that gives the XL3 extra weight toward the end of the bat, which will give players more pop than a balanced bat.
The YB16X311 XL3 is ideal for the youth power hitter looking for an extended barrel and the extra pop necessary to drive the ball to the gaps and over the wall.
We have the 2015 version of this bat which I believe is identical to the 2016 except for the color scheme. Great one piece aluminum bat. It is slightly end loaded but not ridiculously so. That extra weight in the end makes it want to carry right through the hitting zone. Bent one piece it does sting some if you hit the ball outside of the sweet spot. Not a Mako but it is a fun bat to swing.Review by William (Posted on 4/14/2016)
