The iconic A2000 line from Wilson is back and as great as it’s ever been. These gloves from Wilson have grown into a well-known and reliable line – players that demand the familiarity and quality of these gloves, can rest assured knowing that Wilson has released these gloves with the quality those players expect and then some.
The 1788 is 11.25” in length and designed for the elite middle infielder that prefers a short glove and very shallow pocket. This glove features Wilson’s H-web pattern, which is a shallow, durable design – for a consistent, long-lasting feel in the pocket and quick transitions.
The shell, palm and lacing are composed of Wilson’s high-end Pro Stock leather. This leather is one of the highest quality hides Wilson has available for construction and certainly lives up to the A2000 tradition. This glove also features Wilson’s “Top-Shelf Dual Welting”, which takes two strips of leather, placed along the back of the fingers for a quick break-in and long-lasting pocket.
The hand opening features a conventional, open back with a laced binding. The conventional back allows for extra ventilation, while the laced binding provides a secure and snug fit – keeping the glove in place, even during the toughest plays. Additionally, the inside has been lined with Wilson’s Dri-Lex, moisture-wicking material to keep the leather dry and a comfortable feel.
The high-quality Pro Stock leather used is soft, but durable. The A2000 line will arrive stiff, but due to the construction of the leather and welting, will have a reduced break-in time.
I've had this glove for about a year and it has not failed me yet it is a great glove for middle infielders the drilex technology is fantastic it forms to you're hand perfectly it's simply AMAZING.Review by HFR (Posted on 5/10/2016)
This glove is nice and good to use but they need to make a kid palm in it. I'm only 11 and I'm using it, i have to wear a batting glove so it doesn't fall off. I am a little guy and need to make an outfield glove because I am a utility player.Review by Coyote master5 (Posted on 11/22/2013)
This mitt last a long time with about 4-5 uses a week and after the break in time it feels like heaven on your hand. The breaking in process takes about 2-3 weeks for full break in.Review by big papi (Posted on 4/24/2013)
This glove is almost perfect. It molds to your hand perfectly and breaks in just the way you want it, and its quick as well. I'd recommend this for second base over shortstop because its an 11.5 inch glove but it works great fore other positions.Review by Jd (Posted on 3/22/2013)
This is a great glove for infielders. I highly recommend this!!!!!!!Review by Pearc3 (Posted on 3/13/2013)
This glove is amazing. It has a nice shallow pocket and is small for middle infielders. The all black looks very nice. I named mine Black Betty.Review by luke (Posted on 3/5/2013)
Personally, I like the 1786 model, but this glove is almost as good. Perfect mold, fast break in, and light weight. A great all around glove for any infielder.Review by Josh (Posted on 3/5/2013)
The Wilson A2000 1788 is a spectacular choice for all competitive infielders. For a second baseman at the high school level this will be a great glove for the size and will last all four years. Players in 8th grade or younger can use this size for middle infield and third base. The glove forms exactly how you want it to. I'd recommend only playing catch to break it in if you want the best results and durability. The leather that is used by Wilson is Top of the Line. This glove is well worth the money, but you must respect the glove and treat it with care to get the maximum potential from it.Review by Tucc (Posted on 3/2/2013)
